Prosthetic Maxillofacial Rehabilitation Unit

Visit and collaboration with the Prosthetic Maxillofacial Rehabilitaion Unit, Morriston Hospital Swansea, Wales, UK.

Mr Alan Bocca MSc, MIMPT, who heads the Maxillofacial Service and Mr Peter Evans, MIMPT, responsible for the Facial Epithesis Service, welcomed Louise Desmeules, anaplastologist at Hôtel-Dieu in Quebec, Canada, and Anne-Marie Riedinger, anaplastologist in Strasbourg, France.

They attended the implant placement surgery performed by Doctor Adrian Sugar, applied new technologies for the rehabilitation of patients by facial epithesis with bone anchors. After the discovery of the PDM facilities, as well as the visit of Technovent ltd in Cardiff, they collaborated in the realization of a breast prosthesis, and saw patients together.
